Inspiration

Almost the entire world has been affected by the pandemic in some way, huge amount of funds and more importantly lives are being lost, families destroyed, industries struggling, all in all, everything is at stake. Hence, we made a webpage on COVID-19 , owing to the immense benefits it will offer to the users. We, through this project, have created a frontend interface, that shall present important information regarding the Pandemic, general safety protocols, information regarding vaccination, demographic data etc. that will help the viewers become aware of the latest developments related to COVID-19 around the globe.

How we built it

Since the project was developed as a one stop solution for any information regarding COVID-19, it
was built keeping in mind some key features such as:
Information about the COVID-19
Guidelines by the WHO
A Taskbar for easy navigation
News in Marquee
Availability of Oxygen Beds
do Link to the Government Vaccination Portal
Demographic statistics
Vaccination Statistics
Real Time Clock with IST (+ 5:30 GMT)
FAQs regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic
Developer Information and Social Links
Contact Information

Challenges, Learnings and Accomplishments

Designing the user interface of the page in a very user friendly manner was a bit intimidating for new developers like us. To tackle this, went through various websites, to understand the various bits and nuances of developing a proper website.
Finding authentic datasets for vaccinations and Covid-19 cases parameters which work was also difficult. We searched extensively for something that would help us with displaying the demographic data, and eventually zeroed in on Our World in Data dataset.
Finally, we used bootstrap framework to give a more clean and aesthetic look to the entire page. We learned javascript for the first time to build the real time clock.

Main USP of our project:

Though the resources are widely available on the internet, they are scattered in a very haphazard manner. We as a team have tried to integrate all these resources into a single destination for easy reference and quick addressal of the patient's medical needs.

Team's Message

Our health-workers are working tirelessly to keep our communities healthy. During these uncertain times we all must fight together. Right now the best way to do that is by following these steps to protect yourself and your family:

  1. Practice physical distancing.
  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  3. Stay at home if not urgent.
  4. Cover your mouth while cough or sneeze.
  5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  6. Be a hero, wear a mask.
  7. Frequently, Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
