Inspiration

Education has always been critical for all 3 of our team members since we initially met online due to a project-based competition. Due to our diverse backgrounds, we identified a variety of issues within our respective schooling systems and found a key intersection: how the school system hinders itself by adhering to traditional values. These values include the villainization of AI, even though it has become a key focus of the modern world and our schools' tendency to put each student in a box.

What it does

Through critical thinking and meticulous research, we contrived NovaLearn, our own AI-based academy which adapts to the needs of each individual. It is an online platform designed to expand the outreach of the education system while also adapting it to modern values. This learning platform allows students to log in and complete standardised school courses taught by AI and professional teachers. Similar to school, each student has a timetable and enrols in different courses. We included traditional subjects as well as new additions, such as Financial Education, to suit the needs of our current generation.

How we built it

We used Figma, a designer tool, to build our prototype. As for the idea, we researched using various sources and made some financial decisions to ensure our platform's sustainability. The details of the platform are recorded in a Google Document.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we faced was time constraints due to team members being in different time zones. Also, working out the logistics and feasibility was complex as we had to consider various economic and social factors.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to account for many different factors and environments as well as surpassing financial and social obstacles our current school system has generated. Despite our locational differences, we built and expanded our idea as a team in a limited amount of time.

What we learned

Different students face different challenges, so it's necessary to look at the big picture before designing something that only meets a specific community's needs. Also, we learnt the importance of different perspectives and criticism since there were many factors where the opinions of our team members differed, yet we managed to overcome such obstacles and reach a consensus, which largely improved the initial idea proposed by each member.

What's next for NovaLearn

While NovaLearn starts in student hubs such as India, Brazil, USA and China, our main goal is reaching developing economies where the regional school systems may compromise in quality due to financial limitations. We want to promote NovaLearn in various hackathons to break Artificial Intelligence into the world of education. Currently, we are working on developing and refining our prototype.
