Inspiration

Our inspiration stems from our deep connection to Tibetan and Himalayan culture, despite being raised in the West. We recognize the importance of preserving and spreading our rich heritage, particularly the historical and architectural wonders that define our ancestral lands. This project is our way of reconnecting with our roots while sharing the beauty and significance of Tibetan culture with a broader audience.

What We Learned

Throughout this journey, we delved into the intricacies of Tibetan history and architecture, gaining a deeper appreciation for the cultural treasures our ancestors built. We also enhanced our technical skills, especially in web development, learning how to create a seamless and engaging user experience that effectively communicates our cultural values.

Building the Project

We built this project using a modern tech stack, including React for our frontend framework, Firebase for backend services and database management, and Material UI and Tailwind CSS for design and styling. React allowed us to create a dynamic and responsive user interface, while Firebase facilitated real-time data handling and user authentication. Material UI and Tailwind CSS provided the flexibility to design an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing platform that aligns with our cultural themes.

Challenges We Faced

One of the biggest challenges was balancing modern design principles with the traditional elements of Tibetan culture. We wanted to ensure that our platform was not only user-friendly but also respectful and representative of the cultural themes we were showcasing. Additionally, integrating various tools and ensuring seamless performance across different devices required significant testing and troubleshooting.

Our Mission

As Western-raised Tibetans, this project is more than just a technical endeavor—it's a mission to reflect on and promote our historical and architectural values. By blending digital exploration with the opportunity for real-life experiences, we aim to educate and inspire others about the significance of Tibetan culture in today's world.
