Inspiration
The air cargo industry faces significant challenges in optimizing processes, ensuring compliance, monitoring cargo conditions, and enhancing security.
In today's scenario, shippers face a myriad of complexities and challenges. Imagine a shipper trying to book an air cargo shipment. They often need to reach out to multiple freight forwarders, gather quotes, navigate complex booking procedures, and ensure compliance with regulations, especially for specialized cargo like pharmaceuticals.
Furthermore, ensuring the integrity of temperature-sensitive cargo, such as pharmaceuticals, during transit is a constant concern. Meeting Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines requires continuous monitoring of critical parameters to prevent deviations that could compromise the cargo's quality and safety. Also, meeting the various government regulation requirements for the export/import processes is challenging.
Additionally, adapting to new technologies can be daunting for many, especially smaller businesses. The complexities of configuring and deploying these solutions while maintaining data security are areas of concern.
There is a need for a streamlined solution that connects disjointed processes. This will not only reduce costs (expenses for software, communication, data entry, and staff hours), but also liberate the air cargo industry from operational constraints and enable them to redirect their efforts towards achieving sustainable growth, enhancing profitability, and driving sales.
What it does
OneShipper leverages the IATA ONE Record data model and:
Effortlessly connects potential shippers and freight forwarders simply through a QR code shared via widely used mobile communication channels.
Allows shippers to quickly obtain quotes for air cargo shipments from airlines via their affiliated freight forwarders, book cargo shipments, and execute payments using various payment methods.
Uses IoT technology to address the unique challenges of handling specialized cargo, such as pharmaceuticals. By continuously measuring critical parameters during the cargo's journey, ensuring strict compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines.
Harnesses artificial intelligence (AI) to proactively detect potential breaches, offering real-time pre-alerts and insightful analytics, empowering users to take corrective actions promptly and ensuring the seamless acceptance of shipments.
Allows seamless export and import declaration filing with the respective government agencies.
Provides the ease of configuring and deploying this cutting-edge solution on the robust AWS (Amazon Web Services) platform. Using Docker containerization technology and Terraform scripts, each deployment instance and its associated data are meticulously segregated and fortified with AWS best practices and security tools.
In summary, this system brings together advanced technologies and best practices to streamline processes, enhance compliance, monitor cargo conditions, ensure security, and simplify deployment—all in alignment with the ever-evolving demands of the industry.
How we built it
We used the following APIs Nexshore ONE Record Server APIs Qatar Airways Cargo APIs PayCargo payment APIs CargoAI APIs OnAsset IoT APIs We used React.js to create the front-end app and node.js for the backend API server We used Tensorflow for the Artificial Neural Networks modeling
Challenges we ran into
To be able to integrate machine learning models through Tensorflow libraries into node.js to implement Artificial Neural Networks based failure prediction
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Easy Communication: We envisaged secure Air Cargo data sharing through the common communications channels that we humans prefer to communicate
Real-time Visibility: We integrated IoT to provide stakeholders with unprecedented visibility into cargo status, enabling better decision-making and customer satisfaction
Predictive Analytics: We implemented the Tensor Flow Neural Networks algorithm to predict potential issues and proactively address them, reducing delays and disruptions.
Simplified Payments: We enabled simplified payments through integration with PayCargo payments platform
What we learned
That we can effectively utilize the IATA's data model with Interactive Cargo concepts, IoT and Artificial Intelligence to solve real world sustainability and visibility problems
