Inspiration

Healthcare in India and surrounding countries are scarce and inconsistent because of lack of trained personal in rural geographies. Currently this process starts with a static google form like survey*. This approach poses significant challenges because individuals' health backgrounds are as varied as their personal histories. This in combination with the lack of medical background of most HWC's, makes static forms not a useful diagnostic tool. A popular, yet common, solution to this problem is Artificial Intelligence using Large Language Models. Our group aims to use a Health-based Ontology to represent relationships between conditions and symptoms to form better questions that a HWC can ask their patients. This will allow doctors in major hubs to have a better understanding of a patients condition on first contact.

What it does

Our project

How we built it

This Full Stack application was built using Java as the backend, Svelte and Lucide as the front end, and Springboot to create an api to connect the two.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we ran into was creating our Ontology. This is something that is regularly done manually, however because of the nature of this situation we had to do this algorithmically.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create an initial line of reasoning and a foundation for an actual implementation of the system.

What we learned

We learned a lot about Ontology's as well as Springboot.

What's next for Ontology-based Healthcare Questionnaire

We would like to create relations for Synonyms for specific conditions. This would allow for other responses in other languages to be available for patients.
