Inspiration
It's really common for students to need help with their classes. We thought that by connecting students to other students who have previously taken a class, we can really help students.
What it does
A student who requires help with their class uses the app to find a tutor who has already taken the class by sending a request to a particular tutor who can later accept or decline the request.
How we built it
We built both an android and an iOS app, with the backend written in Go using MongoDB as a datastore.
Challenges we ran into
Different codebases for different apps. Issues with storing authentication keys in MongoDB.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a working prototype in a day.
What we learned
Improved our skills in frontend and backend development.
What's next for Open Tutor.
Building a messaging platform for the app so that users can contact each other.
