Inspiration
The inspiration comes from the need of both, young potential jobseekers and employers, for an agile and more effective hiring process. The need of the companies or recruiters for attracting the right candidates and also for jobseekers to attract the right jobs and identify skills is what gave name to our concept. Many questions and considerations revolve around these stakeholders and without an orbit to follow, there's only chaos.
What it does
Orbit is a platform that can be an important part of Tyomarkkinatori that manages all your information and directs it towards job hunting. According to the information you submit as an applicant, you can check your skills in relation to the "ideal candidate" requirements of a company's position. In addition you learn what the company does, what they offer, and most importantly what skills you share in comparison with other applicants and how suitable you are for that position. The idea is to visualise the applicant, or the company, as the center of a solar system in which, depending on the case, jobs, companies or applicants revolve around you. The closer these elements revolve around you, the stronger the match with that element will be.
How we built it
The idea is conceived right now as a mobile app since many people are starting to extend their job-hunting to mobile devices. We built paper mock-ups and we translated them into screens and a small prototype in Invision.

Challenges we ran into
The major challenge was to make the information as simple as possible and to take care of each part of the interaction so that using it would not be frustrating or hectic to users. The consequent challenge was to offer a direction to candidates that want to improve and find what they need and how they fit into the current market. At the same time, from the Employer's perspective we identified a necessity to save time and effort and spot right away the perfect candidates for the position.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We explored possibilities related to cooperation between businesses towards attacking unemployment. One of our features makes the app more social allowing companies to interact and recommend potential candidates to other companies, creating a strong networking experience for all. Users might also recommend positions to their friends in a future update.
What's next for Orbit
The next would be to test it and see if the app is clear enough and then make a small data base so it can be prototyped in a more realistic context. This would allow us to know how it would work in real-life and, later, we could start implementing ideas that were left out due time and ideate more.
