Let's be honest, otters are so cute! We all wished we had our own pet otter but not the responsibility that comes with it. Introducing Otter Chat! You can experience the joy of raising your own otter!

Inspiration

We've got inspired by the Discord drawing competition channel. We found the joy in looking at cute otters all day, releasing all our stress and responsibilities... Wait what am I supposed to be doing..?

What it does

Allows a person to chat with and take care of an otter. Complete mind-melding puzzles to take part in the soul crushing rat race. All to earn enough to take care of your little furry pet.

How we built it

We've choose to create a React app as that was a common technology the whole team knew how to work with. Although we've created it as a mobile app in mind, we figured we can use Progressive Web App (PWA) technology to port to mobile devices with ease. We then distributed and assigned the workload across team members; helping each other out as needed to make sure no roadblock lasted than some minutes.

Challenges we ran into

Along the way, we've ran into natural and puzzling roadblocks involving coding CSS and JavaScript React. We as a team, instead of Stack Overflow for everything, solved those issues utilizing the collective knowledge and experience that we already have, saving time and frustration; personally educating each other.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Drawing animating spritework, who Ryan and William were eager to learn and had fun doing.

-Adding the speech output, who Shaokang was using effect from Animal Crossing as reference.

-Coding the spritework to animate and work in the client JavaScript, who Jonathan did quickly.
