Inspiration

The desire to make a positive impact in the world and to encourage others to do the same is what inspired the creation of Paddle. The idea behind Paddle is to combine the joy of travel with the fulfillment of giving back to communities, allowing individuals to make a positive impact while experiencing new places and creating memories. By providing a platform for people to discover volunteering opportunities and meaningful travel experiences, Paddle, aims to inspire and empower people to lead more purposeful and fulfilling lives.

What it does

Paddle makes it easy for you to discover meaningful volunteer opportunities that align with your values and interests. With a user-friendly interface, you can search for events by location and get a detailed overview of the event, including the date and time, location, and description. Paddle can guide you to the perfect volunteer experience and make a positive impact on local communities.

How we built it

Front end: Javascript, CSS, Html, React JS

Back end: MongoDB, Python, FastApi, Docker, Nginx

Challenges we ran into

Working with new technology presented a number of challenges for our team, but we persevered and successfully navigated through the obstacles. Debugging the code and finding solutions to technical issues was a time-consuming but rewarding process. The toughest part of the project was determining which tools and features to prioritize for Paddle, as we strived to maintain its core purpose while facing time constraints. Our careful selection process resulted in a well-rounded and effective platform.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite time constraints, our dedicated team was able to bring the majority of our innovative ideas for Paddle to fruition. Our passion for creating a user-friendly and impactful platform shines through in the features and functionality included in the Paddle interface.

What we learned

The development of our working prototype was a valuable learning experience, not only in terms of teamwork and collaboration but also in the mastery of new technologies. We tackled the challenges of learning React Js and implementing the Google Cloud API, which was crucial in developing the user-friendly interface of Paddle. Through hard work and determination, we were able to successfully implement these technologies, providing a seamless experience for our users.

What's next for Paddle

At Paddle, we strive to offer an exceptional experience for travelers looking to give back. Our goal is to empower users through user and organizer accounts, enabling them to easily discover and participate in volunteer opportunities and meaningful travel experiences. User accounts also allow for subscriptions to new event notifications and hassle-free hotel booking.
