Inspiration
In the past few decades, the United States has experienced several finanical crisises that have severely impacted individuals in the form of housing, stock and more. Furthermore, a person may experience personal finanical crisises such as losing their job. Therefore, we hope to alleviate the stress of experiencing an finanial crisis with this app.
What it does
Helps consumers making financial decision in a crisis. In the case of a financial crisis, most people have some assets that they can liquidate to deal with the crisis. This app helps the user list their assets (bank, home, vehicles, and personal belongings) and determine how depreciation affects their value, what it's currently worth, and if they need to sell it immediately, what are similar prices for those items they want to sell.
How we built it
Android
Challenges we ran into
Custom screens are not as easy as they seem, and mocking data in place of API calls is essential for an initial build
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating several screens and mocking up a set of data that might be useful to an average person caught in a financial crisis
What we learned
Research the topic for hackathons before the coding begins, so we can be better prepared for building the MVP and getting straight into code.
What's next for Panic
Completing all the screens and attaching APIs to collect listing information and try to predict a pending financial crisis.
