Inspiration
Based on our own personal struggles with keeping up with deadlines piling up, we decided to build an app to better manage this perpetual cycle.
What it does
Simply input your coursework release dates and deadlines, and PanicZones displays this information in a handy, colour coded calendar, highlighting when you can take it easy and specific crunch periods.
How we built it
We used Google’s Flutter framework to build this mobile app, using Dart for the front end and Hive for the backend and database. The mock up was created with Figma.
Challenges we ran into
Only one member of our team had previous experience with Flutter so there was a steep learning curve involved.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a basic framework and front end interface. Improved our experience with Github and had no major catastrophies.
What we learned
Familiarised ourselves with new technologies such as Flutter, Dart and Hive, and incorporated open-source packages such as Flutter’s table_calendar package
What's next for PanicZone
In the future, we’d like to improve user experience by incorporating a mascot to motivate the user to return to the app. In addition to this, we’d like to add a task management feature to break down large official deadlines into more manageable personal deadlines.
