Inspiration

We wanted to make something mindblowing and visually engaging. Something geared towards kids that is easy to use and nurtures their creativity, widening their imaginations and helping them with storytelling and writing. All this while not closing the door to adults like us who would have a blast reimagining their favourite stories (or their least favourite).

What it does

Parallality gives you the power to change any detail of a movie, TV show, or novel, small or big. Like the writer of the script and let it play out in an alternate timeline before you,

How we built it

Visual Studio Code, BingImageCreator API, Cohere Text Generation AI API Html, Css, Javascript, Python, React, Node, Javascript, Flask

Challenges we ran into

-A lot of APIs we would want access to are behind a paywall -Interfacing I/O front end and back end -Dealing with AI training -Dealing with server downtime / slow image generation, finding other imag gen APIs -Designing the website -Fine-tuning the AI -Dealing with invalid logic inputs, if the user inputs something that never happened in the movie -Formatting / parsing the AI outputs -The third picture coming out corrupt sometimes -Prompts for the image generation -Running out of tokens

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We accomplished successful UI integration, navigating through multiple generative APIs in back-end, and training AI models in different contexts to generate believable, reliable new timelines.

What we learned

We learned a lot about front-end development for the first time, exposed to a lot of challenges to make a really cool looking website. Learning a lot of different frameworks and working with AI.

What's next for Parallality

Extending the interactivity past the point where the story is re-written. With more time we wanted to implement a follow-up text box, where you may now ask based on your new and fully built timeline. Side characters and all relationships have all been affected by your decision, no matter how big or small, so since the AI only touches on 3 highlights of the new plot, you can dive deeper and explore this new world you've created by asking the AI follow up questions if they forgot to mention what George is now doing?

Deep learning AI to make it easier to produce stories and interact with the user, as well as taking some more time to optimizing the AI.

Generating multiple timelines for one prompt that you get to choose from before exploring further into your world.
