Inspiration

Technology that works well is often first adopted by criminals and people who are targeted by law enforcement and governments. The inspiration to this project were the terrorist attacks of 9/11, where communication was done by the attackers over Gmail Drafts, which never got sent, and therefor also bypassed government monitoring at this time.

What it does

PARASITE enables users to use existing infrastructure in a way it is not meant to be used by the owners and centralized organizations. It enables sharing of various messaging routes and needed cryptographic information over NFC or QR codes, onboarding any new user to this hidden communication channel, using reliable infrastructure for any purpose in a secure way. Censorship on external owned IPs or systems is doable for any authoritarian regime, but what if the messages are exchanged using their own systems? To evade detection of this activity, messages can be obfuscated using steganography or formatted/padded in a way which makes it hard to identify. PARASITE is creating an asymmetric system, where it is easy to use the system for Users, but hard to censor for the operators.
