Inspiration

As students, there are several applications we need to fill out for scholarships and internships, and its difficult to organize and track those applications. Our goal was to create a google chrome extension that would allow users to save scholarship and internships postings all over the web. With Path Track, users can save applications, organize them into separate boards, and track deadlines to streamline the application process.

What it does

Path Track organizes internship and scholarship applications found on the web and then stores them on separate boards. Users can also add important information for each application/posting including the description, deadline, necessary application materials and documents, and the URL.

How we built it

As a Google Chrome Extension, Path Tracker will assist you with your internship and scholarship search. Built using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, Path Tracker integrates with your everyday browsing and remains in the background until needed. Once you find an application you would like to save, click on the Path Tracker extension, choose the application type (scholarship or internship), and list the title and URL and click save.

Challenges we ran into

This was the first Hackathon for 2/4 of our members and all of us are not CS majors. Also, nobody in our team has built a google chrome extension, so there were plenty of challenges along the way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite not being CS majors, we came together and worked as a team to execute our project to the best of our ability.

What we learned

We learned how to use GitHub and familiarized ourselves with is features. We also learned some new coding languages such as html, css, and javascript to create a google chrome extension.

What's next for Path Track

The Path Track extension is not complete, so we to finish the code and refine the functionality of the extension. We also need to create a Path Track website where the user can view the saved postings, add information, and organize their lists and tracking hubs. Also, our goal is to make a Notion integration where all the postings saved would be stored in the users personal Notion.
