Inspiration:

PathwayPilot was inspired by the ever decreasing college acceptance rates and their proportionally increasing college counseling prices. Other services like Elite Prep or C2 Education cost over 6,000 to 7,000 dollars every year and their prices just keep increasing. Accordingly, we were impassioned to create a cheaper and better solution to this prominent issue.

Functionality:

PathwayPilot is designed to provide college counseling services to support high school students reach their dream colleges. Based on a variety inputted data like your GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and extracurriculars, it can create a plan to help you reach your dream college. Also, we have added essay help and ]tutoring for GPA management to help any users with their school work or test preparation.

Composition:

We used a Django framework along with a Bootstrap frontend. We collected data about students including college info and preferences and grade specifics. Used ChatGPT

Obstacles:

First and foremost, time is always a constraint with any hackathon project and we were working down to the wire, while constantly troubleshooting any issues that arose. Also, after we completed our front and back end software, we experienced difficulty in their connection.

Accomplishments:

We really love the scale and impact of our project. We believe we created something that has the capability to help millions of high school students in the US.

Takeaways:

Mainly, we realized that time management is a paramount skill needed to finish any good project because slacking of in the beginning can result in a rushed finish later on. Additionally, teamwork is an essential component in achieving a successful project because all members of the team need to cooperate and check each other to negate each others short-comings.

Future Goals:

Like any other AI, PathwayPilot has a bright horizon and we plan to expand it to not only encompass college counseling and tutoring but also incorporate a fully functional education plan to help less privileged students achieve their goals since over 224 million children worldwide lack access to a solid education.
