Inspiration

We were inspired to make PatriotQuest because we wanted to connect Mason students to services the campus offers. A vast majority of students commute to campus, so we wanted to create a fun, interactive platform to encourage them to get more involved.

What it does

PatriotQuest is an interactive game app made for Mason student to match with Mason services and events based on their player status as well as current needs and gain Mason coins through quests.

How we built it

PatriotQuest was coded in JavaScript and stored in the Expo Go app to test and see the layout of the app. Our app is compatible with IOS and Android.

Challenges we ran into

We were having a hard time learning to code and apply it to our project as we mostly have UI/UX design experience. We also struggled with many time conflicts between our team member's schedules during the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to make a functioning app to display what we wanted to make. We were able to made interactive and bright 8 bit designs to portrays Mason students in the app. Lastly, we are proud of the growth in skills, commitment, project presentation we made during the hackathon.

What we learned

We learned to be more organized with our time management and time conflicts from the start as well as get started as early as possible. We learned to divide out team goals and tasks from the beginning and communicate more during the process.

What's next for PatriotQuest

We will be adding the image recognition feature for student to take a picture to verify it instead of just normal check in process with for a monthly scavenger hunt prize. We will be adding the direction feature (using google api) to direct the students to the event. We will be adding for features such as "what are you in the mood for today" and then they can type out their keyword for example " sewing" then the results would show events for them to go ( such as the MIX) and get points.
