The Story of Pausania
Pausania is acknowledged as the first we can say "touristic guide" in History. During his life, in fact, getting back to the II century b.C. he traveled all around the Greece and tried to document all the monuments from past ages. We thought that we could borrow his name for this Apple Watch App that could really work as a touristic guide while you travel around in a new city or new country that you totally don't know. Imagine you go out the hotel, hostel or something like that forgetting your heavy and dusty touristic guid booklet, and imagine that you don't have the chance to book a guide because you don't have the time, the contacts or simply you don't want and you just want to feel the "magic" of the environment that surrounds you, then you start walking around and moving from one side to another of the city without knowing where to find any monuments, museums, churches and so on... Probably you have some language issues, probably the people of the city have... Pausania is an app GPS based that could totally solve your problems just wearing your Apple Watch. You can use it in background and it will tell exactly what is around you, whether a museum, a monument or whatever point of interest you want to go to.
The team
The team was formed by Ilaria Patrociello(UI/UX designer), Francesco Spigno(Full-Stack developer), Giovanni Gervasio(UI/UX researcher), Nicola Beneduce(Front-end developer), Luca Paduano(Front-end developer) and me Federico Avano(Back-end developer).
What it does
We wanted to create something helpful that could have stimulate tourists to go and look, without looking for points of interest on their phones or booklets, to simplify their travel experience. One interesting way to do that was the chance of using the Apple Watch. Since it's a wearable device, users could even forget of taking phones, googling for places to go and so on. We thought it as a tool that could give users the position of points of interest near them, thanks to maps a geolocation.
