Inspiration

The inspiration for my app, PawConnect, came from the desire to create a supportive community for pet owners and simplify the process of finding pet-friendly locations. As a pet owner myself, I often faced challenges in locating places where my pets were welcome. This motivated me to develop an app that not only helps users find suitable venues but also connects them with fellow pet enthusiasts.

What it does

PawConnect offers three main features designed to enhance the experience of pet owners:

1.Pet-friendly Location Tracker: Users can easily find and navigate to parks, cafes, and other venues that welcome pets, ensuring enjoyable outings without the stress of finding suitable places.

2.Discussion Forums: The app provides a space for pet owners to share experiences, seek advice, and connect with others in their community. This feature encourages interaction and builds a supportive network.

3.Events Near Me: Users can discover local pet-related events, such as adoption drives, pet shows, and meetups, allowing them to engage with their community and participate in activities that benefit their pets.

How we built it

I utilized Figma for the design process, by focusing on creating an intuitive interface that caters to a pet owner's needs, to ensure easy navigation and interaction.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges that I run into was event discovery as curating local events was challenging, since I needed to ensure that the information was relevant and timely for the users.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

The interactive prototypes created in Figma were well-received during testing, validating my design choices and user flow and establishing a clear vision for the app's functionality and user experience, setting a strong foundation for future development.

What we learned

Being flexible and open to change helped me navigate challenges and improve my design continuously and regular soliciting and incorporating user feedback was crucial in refining my design and enhancing user satisfaction.

What's next for Pawconnect

I plan to introduce new functionalities such as a pet care resource library and pet adoption section to further support users and launch marketing efforts to increase user participation in forums and events, ensuring that PawConnect becomes the go-to platform for pet owners.
