Inspiration
We want to build the most widely used financial platform, which enables people to save money in a disciplined manner and guarantees a good ROI, along with the flexibility to access huge amounts of cash when in need.
Opportunities
America Saves too little. More than a quarter of Americans have no emergency savings. 67% have less than six months of emergency savings.
No Company, Product or Service in America addresses this issue efficiently. This gives us a wide window to dominate and capture the market.
Obtaining funds from a bank or any other service during an emergency is difficult.
Hassles and time taken to get a loan.
How I built it
- Extreme programming
- Divided modules. Defined interfaces (REST Endpoints)
- Frequent integrations and BVTs
- Each responsible for their own area of expertise
Challenges I ran into
- Scalable web auctioning system.
- Synchronizing complex mysql queries in an async framework like node
- Scheduling cron jobs on the backend node system to start the bidding and make automated payment transfers.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Getting a good scalable system up and running in spite of complex modules.
- Not giving up on efficiency and correctness despite a short frametime.
What's next for Pennypool
- Build a profile of the user. Use intelligent ML algorithms to recommend potential investment options.
- Associate every person in the group with a trust rating which is a true measure of how reliable and timely a person has been in the payments. This would help people choose their moneypools/groups wisely.
