NarKeen Ring

Inspiration 🌟

We've all witnessed videos of individuals attempting to tamper with drinks at events or blind dates, with dangerous consequences. In the USA, an alarming 54% of women report experiencing sexual harassment. In India, one in nine women has fallen victim to drink spiking at gatherings. Shockingly, in Brazil, a single man targeted seven women in one day.

Growing up, I felt the frustration of my parents' concerns about my safety, the fear of drink tampering always casting a shadow. This, combined with my increasing awareness of sexual assault risks, inspired me to develop this innovative solution.

What it does 📱

With the use of a ring, one can easily detect common drugs present in a drink. All you need to do is shine a ray of light on the drink and observe if the ring deflects the light. This will reveal whether the drink contains any drugs or not, providing a safe and reliable way to ensure the substances you consume are free of any unwanted additives.

How we built it 🛠️

To gain a comprehensive understanding of the real-life implications of optical activity and to investigate the veracity of claims surrounding the use of chiral drugs as a means of spiking drinks, I undertook a personal research project.

Challenges we ran into 💪

The task of producing a functional prototype and designing a comprehensive strategy for the ring's operation posed considerable difficulties given the restrictions of the given timeframe.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am pleased that I successfully created a circuit on my own, as this type of hands-on learning is not typically included in India's curriculum.

What we learned 🧠

Patience: I learned that there is not only one way you could solve a problem, sometimes it's always better to do as much research as you want and wait for an amazing idea to strike your mind.

What's next for NarKeen Ring 🌌

I am committed to exploring alternative options to traditional rings that will be more accessible to consumers in the future. Additionally, I will continue my research to ensure that this project becomes a reality for all of us in the coming years.
