Inspiration ✨
Funding great projects has never been more important than it is today. Hundreds of thousands of projects are getting created monthly and the creators should have an easy way to get funded. Traditional crowdfunding services are often at the mercy of banks and credit card companies. Phionthrium gives the power and control back the users, allowing them to support projects wherever, whenever, through the use of blockchain technology.
What it does 💻
Phionthrium allows you to fund your favorite open source projects through a series of Ethereum smart contracts. As a creator, after signing up you can redeem your funds monthly as curious consumers pledge their hard-earned Ethereum, the Robux of the future.
Challenges we ran into 🕸
The blockchain provides an interesting way to verify the validity of various things. Our unrealized and unimplemented feature of voting on features has this tenet of the blockchain at its core: people that pledge should get a say in what goes on.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆
In under 36 hours, we've managed to build a proof of concept website that demos the future service. Although you can't start spending your Ethereum just yet, we are proud of how far we've come during this project, overcoming complex technologies, and learning new things.
What we learned 🧠
Some aspects of the project were familiar to us. Returning to an easy to use framework such as React gives us the opportunity to further polish our skills. In addition, our project does not lack any novel technologies. Our entire team is new to working with blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies.
What's next for phionthrium 🎯
In the future, given enough resources and time, the phionthrium team will be able to turn a proof of concept project into a fully-functional website that will be able to process transactions from people around the world.
