Inspiration
We were always inspired by other game designers creating some extraordinary games. We always wished that we could too create games like the professional designers.
What it does
Platform Roll is a 3D platform - based game. It consists of a rolling ball controllable by the user's keyboard. There are obstacles on the platform which have to be avoided in order to move forward in the game. There is a scoreboard which keeps track of how well you are faring in the game.
How we built it
We built it using Unity. We created several scripts to control the behavior of the various organs of the game. Using variables and functions, we were able to accomplish all what we had in mind about the game.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a number of challenges during our time of making scripts, usually in the form of compile errors. There were other challenges like keeping up with the deadlines and technical difficulties.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One thing which makes our game different from others is that none of the assets in our game are imported from outside or from the Asset Store. All assets used are created using the GameObject Menu in Unity. Everything in our game is hand-done by using scripts which we have ourselves typed. Another accomplishment we are proud of is our teamwork. We worked effectively with each other overcoming all obstacles and challenges we faced during our time in Hackathon.
What we learned
During our time in Hackathon, we learnt how to overcome all sorts of obstacles commonly faced in the contemporary world of computers. We learnt about the programming language C#, and used it for creating our scripts. We learnt how to get along as a team and appreciate each other which resulted in our accomplishment in creating this game.
What's next for Platform Roll
Even though Hackathon is now over, we are determined to continue updating Platform Roll as we keep learning new things about game designing. We wish to cross our limits and wish to see our game soar great heights in the gaming industry!
