Inspiration
Playable.ai was inspired by the idea of making everyday objects more engaging. We wanted to create an interactive experience where simple objects can spark creativity and bring fun, whether you're at home, school, or even out and about. The goal was to develop an app that could transform any object into a potential game, breaking the limitations of traditional gaming experiences.
What it does
Playable.ai allows users to upload images. The app then uses AI to identify the object and suggests a variety of games or activities that can be played with it. Whether it's a ball, bottle, or book, the app brings instant fun, encouraging creativity and play in any setting.
How we built it
We developed the frontend with React and Tailwind, and the backend with Flask. The app leverages Ultralytics' YOLOv8 for object detection and integrates AI/ML technologies like OpenAI and Tavily for game suggestions.
Challenges we ran into
Streamlining the whole project since this is an online hackathon and we had to communicate with our teammates virtually and adjust to each other's schedule. For some teammates, this was their first hackathon, making it an exciting learning experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built a functional version of the app within the hackathon timeframe.
What we learned
We deepened our understanding of building AI-powered applications and gained valuable experience in team collaboration.
What's next for Playable.ai
We're working on enabling live object detection using smartphone cameras for a more seamless and immersive experience.
