Inspiration
Inspiration stems from our childhood sports teams that were actively involved in the community. For example, organizing a canned food drive on Halloween to donate to our local food bank. This was only possible when exposed to the limitless opportunities to give back and help within our community. We hope to expose other youth athletes to these opportunities as well.
What it does
A platform that connects sports teams with local social causes, enabling teams to support community projects through volunteering, fundraising matches, or awareness campaigns.
How we built it
This web application was developed using Flask, HTML, and Bootstrap CSS
Challenges we ran into
This was our first hackathon so there were many challenges. We didn't have much experience with full stack development, and none of us have used Flask before.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We believe our entire project was an accomplishment as it works as intended and met all of our functional requirements.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Flask and how to develop a full stack application. We also used Bootstrap for the first time and learned that styling is very tedious.
What's next for PlayItForward
Continue development to offer more functionality and possibly deploy it so it can actually help young athletes connect with community
