Inspiration

We noticed elders, children with health conditions, and coworkers we see around us have to stay indoors at times for fear of what could go wrong if they step foot outside to bad air. What if they had the guidance to make better- and well-informed decisions for the health?

What it does shows pollution level in a specific city

It constantly monitors and collects data on air quality from various sources and proved you with the most up-to-date information. It takes into account your location and health conditions to offer personalized advice, we understand one size does not fit all so our recommendations are tailored specifically for you. For individuals with respiratory and other health conditions, we offer personalized safety guidelines. If it's not safe to go outside, we provide suggestions on indoor activities, suitable masks, and protective clothing to keep you safe.

How we built it

It all began with a vision - to create a platform that empowers individuals with real-time air quality information. We defined our goals, identified the problem, and envisioned the solution. We brainstormed and mapped out our idea then used Html, CSS, and JavaScript to create our website.

Challenges we ran into

Using API's to integrate the zip code, cities, and states into our search function has been challenging to our team since it is more advanced than our current skill levels. We acknowledged that and are learning a more efficient way to change our codes to become better.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a function that retrieved information from an API, so now we can click on the zip code link, and it takes you to another page where you see the pollution levels of your city based on the API information.

What we learned

We've honed our skills in collecting, processing, and presenting complex data in a user-friendly way. We understood the diverse needs of users with varying health conditions and locations has made us experts in personalization and user-centric design. The project deepened our knowledge of health implications of pollution and the importance of providing safety measures.

What's next for PolliEverywhr

Climate change and pollution, as mentioned, have always been one of the biggest issues that the world is facing. It leads to the quality of life becomes more difficult for many. As we are developing this website to notify the pollution levels to the user at the cities where they lives, we want to make changes and upgrade the website using advanced techniques and tools to accommodate the needs of our users (for example, the detail information about climate at a specific place, the appropriate adaptions and advice), especially traveling to a different state/country, working in another location besides their own hometown, studying overseas, etc.
