PollMate

Inspiration

Many people want to vote but are not physically able or financially positioned to go to the voting poll. This app is important because I believe it address the lack of transportation some people may have during election time.

What it does

This app addresses the problem by providing links to various means of safe, affordable methods of transportation specific to their region/locale.

How I built it

Challenges I ran into

One of the challenges encountered was getting the mapping, polling data into the app and to have the data retrieved so it remains current for the intended user and the region where they live. Additionally, for the civic component, the data for the various candidates that would be in a given election.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

That it provides a service, it lends a helping hand to someone in need. It provides and fills the gap where there is a need or lack helping to minimize or bridge the gap of those that have and those that do not.

What I learned

I learned about my level of creativity and concepts of thought expansion for this level and platform of coding. Additionally understanding how the origins and outcome of an app can be so much more meaningful than gaming.

What's next for PollMate

I plan to improve the app by including a brand logo for more identifiable and name recognition.
