Inspiration
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I've been stuck at home sitting at my desk for the majority of the day. As a result, my posture has inevitably gotten worse and causes me discomfort on a daily basis. Thus, I created this site to help other people stretch out tight muscles and prevent them from falling into the same pit I have.
What it does
By clicking on a specific area of discomfort, the user can see helpful exercises to stretch out that area and promote better posture.
How we built it
We built this using React, Javascript, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
It was very difficult centering divs, but aside from that, we had to find React components that fulfilled our needs and figure out how to use it. For example, our popups rely on a legacy version of a component that doesn't work that well, but it was the best we could find. Furthermore, we also had to manage to design hitboxes for the image that scaled with different-sized screens.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the overall aesthetic of the website as well as the simplicity of it.
What we learned
We learned how to use React more effectively and how to find components that fit our requirements.
What's next for Ponere
Ideally, the images would be embedded videos that better demonstrate how to perform the exercise, but due to time constraints and our limited knowledge about those sorts of things, we stuck with images. In the future, we may record videos of ourselves performing the exercise and replace the images with those.
