Inspiration
As we know that the navigation through road to unknown roads is critical, especially when we don't know the condition of those roads, well, mapmyindia got us covered with the unknown roads part but the "quality of road" part is still untouched.
Pottle tries to solve this problem, so that The traveler will not face any inconvenience while driving no matter if you're traveling at night or during the rain.
What it does
If only there were an easier and better way to know how soon they will be encountering a pothole, then people could prepare themselves for them and take the needed measures which would lead to a smooth and safe on-road experience. With millions of drivers for crowd-sourcing the data, there is a clear opportunity to meaningfully impact a huge number of people.
How we built it
We consolidated the sensor data from the user's mobile phone using our Android Application using Azure's IoT Hub along with the GPS location of the device. The sensor data was then processed for marking the Potholes on the map.

What we learned
It was our first time working with IoT sensors, so we learned a lot about them and also about how to make the data interact with the Azure Platform
The Design Workshop helped us conceptualizing the app and gave us a kickstart to finally build it.
What's next for Pottle
- Finding a way to exploit the humungous amount of data we're getting from the sensors to further enhance the features of Pottle.
- Bringing the app in market for Beta Testing.
