Inspiration

With so many people hard at work sourcing PPE manufacturers, working out distribution, and getting that PPE to hospitals, we wanted to create a tool to help make this process more efficient, making sure smaller, less visible hospitals are also not overlooked for donations. We were also inspired by GoFundMe campaigns for hospitals, with set goals to reach and very clear indicators of progress in how much was raised so far.

What it does

Allows users to see a list of hospitals for PPE items requested, as well as quantities for the amount needed and amount raised so far.

How we built it

Built really quickly with Glide, backend is all Google Sheets and Google Forms. We hope this will make it easier to work with less technically inclined donors and recipients.

Challenges we ran into

We're reaching out to hospital connections as well as organizations like getusppe.org to collaborate.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We believe the lack of transparency in the PPE "donation market" is going to lead to some real inefficiencies in resource allocation, with less visible hospitals receiving fewer donations. By allowing donations to be tracked, we hope to make it easier for individuals and large organizations and manufacturers alike to get PPE to where it is most needed.

What's next for PPEme

We're building out a model to estimate the number of masks and other PPE required given patient numbers, healthcare worker numbers, and current burn rates of PPE.

Transitioning to a web app would allow us to pull in more information, especially real-time data on current cases in which areas.

We hope to integrate with getusppe.org to help them track and efficiently allocate donations as well.
