Inspiration
Based on expanding upon 'focus modes' found in the base Android and iOS operating systems.
What it does
A focus and recovery app designed to help people work with intention and rest without guilt. Users can set focus modes for deep work and structured break modes for intentional rest. During breaks, the app encourages stepping away rather than switching to another screen. A lightweight friends feature lets users see when their friends last recharged, without messaging or notifications, preserving the idea that a break is truly a break. A built-in calendar helps users plan focus sessions and recharge periods ahead of time, turning rest into something deliberate rather than accidental.
How we built it
We built it primarily on Figma, with help from Figma Make.
Challenges we ran into
The auto-layout sometimes messed up the formatting that we wanted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a social feature that supports rest without risking social FOMO. The app successfully reframes breaks as something valuable, practiced universally rather than wasted time. We’re also proud of the clean, distraction-free interface and the way focus and rest are treated as equal parts of productivity.
What we learned
We learned that productivity tools don’t need more features, but rather clearer intent. Small design choices, like removing messaging or limiting notifications, can have a big impact on user behaviour. We also learned the importance of aligning technical decisions with product philosophy, not just convenience.
What's next for Precharger
More incentives to collect precharge points.
