Inspiration
We wanted to create a unique way for people to connect and interact through shared predictions. Whether it’s a casual guess about an upcoming event or a bold personal goal, our app lets users explore their intuition while having fun with friends.
What it does
The app allows users to submit predictions, invite friends to react, and track whether the predictions come true over time. It creates a playful, social experience where friends can join in discussions, celebrate correct guesses, and keep track of each other’s outcomes.
How we built it
We built the app in Android Studio using Java for a seamless Android experience. We designed an intuitive interface with TextInputEditText for user predictions, integrated friend lists, and developed a system to manage reactions and track prediction results.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating the friend-reaction feature was challenging, as was ensuring smooth user experience when updating prediction outcomes. Building an engaging and organized layout to handle multiple predictions and reactions also required careful planning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating a fully functioning prediction-tracking system and a smooth user interface. Additionally, we succeeded in implementing a real-time update feature that keeps friends engaged by tracking reactions and outcomes accurately.
What we learned
We gained hands-on experience with Android Studio, Java, and app development best practices. Implementing a reactive interface and managing app state effectively were valuable lessons for building dynamic, user-friendly applications.
What's next for Predict the Future
Next, we plan to add personalized prediction categories, enhance social interaction with comments and rankings, and introduce notifications to keep users updated on prediction outcomes in real time. We may also explore cross-platform capabilities to reach a wider audience.
