PrepPal

Inspiration

We often find the hardest part about studying is figuring out exactly what to study. Sometimes, we spend more time making test questions than we do practicing with them!

What it does

PrepPal is an AI powered study buddy which creates custom exercises for you based on your course material and how well you've performed on specific topics in the past.

How we built it

After about an hour of brainstorming, and another of planning, we set off on our way to build our new study buddy. We started off by building the express server and making some wireframes for the UI. We split most of the work up into UI/Controllers/Database and came together at the end to combine it all into the finished product.

Challenges we ran into

We had two major challenges. First of all, one of our team members got sick last minute and had to cancel. We also picked quite a large scope and had a bit of trouble getting it all done.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Honestly, we're proud to have completed most of what we set out to. We had a very optimistic idea of how much we could get done in 24 hours, and we didn't have to shave too much off.

What we learned

We learned to focus on the very next task at hand. Oftentimes we would be building out our software to make it easier to develop in the coming hours, only to pivot slightly or cut a feature and have just wasted 30 precious minutes.

What's next for PrepPal

We would love to add a professor view to PrepPal. We think the data gathered from tracking students' could be very useful to teachers. Teachers could also help out by publishing some of their materials.

Overall, we're very happy with what we've developed. I hope you can excuse any spelling mistakes or weird sentences, I'm going on my 23rd hour awake!
