Distractisaurus

What it does

Distractisaurus is a Chrome Extension where your dinosaur friend isn't really your friend, and is absolutely praying on your downfall. Productivity is the dinosaur's greatest enemy, and it'll do anything to stop you from doing your work. The longer you ignore the dinosaur, the angrier it'll get and the more it'll take over your screen, through suggesting distractions and time-wasting websites, playing memes over your screens, and eventually redacting the content on your screen.

How we built it

We used Typescript and HTML/CSS to create the Chrome Extension, and OpenAI and prompt engineering to formulate the dinosaur dialogue and determine which websites were productive or unproductive.

Challenges we ran into

Prompt engineering was difficult, as it's quite hard to get ChatGPT to provide a negative response. Rendering some of the images using CSS was also more time-consuming than anticipated as it took a lot of time to troubleshoot and test new fixes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the AI integration, which allows the extension to work on any website on the internet and categorize it correctly.

What's next for Distractisaurus

We would like add greater functionality for the dinosaur to mess with the user's screen, and further fine tune dialogue between the dinosaur and the user.
