Inspiration

As college students during the pandemic, we have repeatedly experienced the lack of engagement and participation in virtual classroom settings. In particular, we have noticed that there is significantly less engagement in virtual club activities. We have come to the conclusion that it is hard for students to feel immersed when staring at a computer screen. Therefore, we want to create a software to make the virtual learning setting resemble the classroom environment. We believe that Augmented Reality offers a truly unique approach that possesses great potentials.

What it does

Includes built-in scenarios where instructors/hosts can choose from and use them as the setting of their meetings. Participants can move their devices around as if they are in the actual setting. Live stream / video call feature would be incorporated on various parts of the template. Users will be able to build their own setting using existing AR objects. Teachers and students may put real time images of their face on existing templates of AR human figures.

How we built it

By using echoAR as the AR platform and other resources such as Sketch and Adobe XD to visualize our application.

Challenges we ran into

Lack of actual coding/engineering experience to actualize our visions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We developed a relatively comprehensive business plan that is special and visionary in less than 48 hours while we only have two members in our team.

What we learned

We learned that all businesses require a great amount of attention to details, vision, planning, and collaboration.

What's next for Project 1mmersion

We plan to further take advantage of AR by adding fun, interactive features between attendees and hosts.
