With water so cheap, how can we make people care about the impact of their water usage, let alone conservation? By making water more valuable through a conservation reward systems, we can help people think beyond dollars and cents and give them the extra encouragement needed. We were then left to find a corporation capable of sponsoring such an effort. Ethos, recently berated in the media for their CA water bottling operation, stood out as an organization in need of some positive PR, yet had the money to sponsor such an initiative. Owned by Starbucks, Ethos will be given the opportunity to restore their brand by rewarding water conservation, their original company mission. This idea has the opportunity to reach the millions of homeowners in Los Angeles and incentivize apartment residents to obtain consumption info from their landlord.
