Project Empty Space

Inspiration

As seniors just beginning to drive spaceships (cars), we've had trouble finding parking spots whenever we're out.

What it does

Uses webcam to analyze parking lot to tell users if there are open spots available.

How we built it

VSCode, OpenCV, Roboflow, and YOLOv8 were combined (to varying degrees) to implement an object-recognition model.

Challenges we ran into

Deciding which image recognition model to utilize. Coding the webcam to identify the cars.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing the project to a satisfactory degree.

What we learned

We learned how to implement machine learning to analyze an environment that would inherently assist consumers, creating a more convenient and efficient user experience.

What's next for Project Empty Space

Honing the AI Model to recognize a greater range of parking lots.
