Inspiration

When I went to India this summer to visit my parents I got to that we have been having some legal land disputes for some time now. I went to my village to see what the issue was and then got to know that 25 acres of our land has been marked as 'Owned by Government' because there were some problem with the records and no one from our family were there to address it. Even though we showed our land deeds, it was not acceptable because of the status.

When I came back from India, and was suppose to choose a sector to work on, I realized that my problem can be addressed by the implementation of blockchain technology. So, I started my research on this topic and found that there is a way of approach to this problem.

What it does

PropNFTs is a platform where people can store their property records and image as NFTs. Leveraging the blockchain technology, this process has been made easier and transparent. It stores the data of the property on etherum through IPFS. Fetching it back, it displays the image, description of property and the title deed on a carousel gallery.

How I built it

I built it using React.js with Shadcn UI library for the front-end. For the back-end I used solidity smart contracts and IPFS network integrated with metamask.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges that I ran into were more of conceptual rather than technical. The main challenge was to set discipline. I was struggling to overcome that challenge during first two weeks, but as time went, I realized why is this important for me and that I should be glad for this opportunity. Then, there were some technical challenges which every person faces when they start learning something new. There was a point where I was also indecisive about this project but mentors like Nathan Schwarman and Hudson Headley made me realize that whatever I do would a learning opportunity no matter what I develop.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I am proud that I was able to learn discipline. I realized that reaching a point to call something ours is very hard and I would have to work for it. I am proud that I was able to complete a project that I started for the first time and which was not a lab assignment.
