Protester is an app designed to allow activists and organizers to bring together their community in a way that prioritizes their their safety and anonymity.
We were inspired by the incredible activism that's shaped the past year, and by the idea that our struggles don't end with a regime change.
Our app gives activists and those interested in activism a place to connect and build together, on a platform that respects their safety and anonymity.
We put together a Vue.js web application rendered by Nuxt, using Firebase to store all user-generated data.
Most of our team is new to Vue, so learning the ins and outs of the language was a challenge.
We're proud of the amount that we were able to accomplish in a short timeframe, as well as the social role that our app plays, especially now.
We learned that doing Firestore queries through Vue takes some getting used to, and that you should never underestimate the power of a five minute nap.
We hope to launch the app officially soon, as well as expanding on the functionality it already has, including forum and search functionalities.
