Inspiration

Ever wanted to be rewarded for traveling to landmarks? Then you should use TravelQuest for your adventures. Powered by Google Cloud Geocoding API and Google Cloud Vision AI you can take pictures of landmarks and get rewarded doing so.

What it does

By uploading an image the program will label attributes of the image, detect if there is a landmark in the image, and able to detect certain emotions. Our program gives users quests and rewards them by getting points.

How we built it

We built our program using VScode as our IDE and GitHub for version control. We used the Google Cloud Geocoding API and Google Cloud Vision AI for collecting data.

Challenges we ran into

Learning to utilize API systems, figuring out how to use React, divergent branch issues with Git, learning how to use Flask. We had no prior experience with any of these. We got far in the development process but got stuck on trying to display backend data on the webpage.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As we did not have any experience with practically any of these frameworks, we are proud that we were able to successfully use and access the Google Cloud Geocoding API and Google Cloud Vision AI. While we did not achieve our original vision we are still proud for creating a semi-functional webpage.

What we learned

We are more familiar with using and accessing API's especially the Google Cloud API. We learned how to use React for front end development.

What's next for TravelQuest:

We hope to work on this project further and eventually make it available as a mobile app. A functionality we would like to add in the future is to convert images to NFTs , sell NFTs on WEMADE, give back portion to users. Another functionality we could like to add in the future is a social media network. Users would be able to upload images can be posted for friends to see, quest images could be compiled into a collage for export. Another feature we would like to implement AAR experiences: point camera at landmark to "graffiti" it with messages or images.
