What it does
Our platform is a financial literacy tool inspired by the communities we serve, blending social media-like engagement with gamified learning to help young people build strong trading habits. Centered on the hackathon themes of community, education, and innovation, it goes beyond basic budgeting and teaches users how to grow their money through smart, long-term investing.
Instead of relying on traditional paper trading or simulators that leave beginners directionless, we integrate backtesting as a learning tool—guiding users through real historical data and fundamental analysis to build decision-making skills over time. The design emphasizes clarity and stability, filtering out the noise of minute-to-minute price swings to promote patience and strategic thinking.
On the technical side, we used Alpaca’s Market Data API to access historical and live financial data, and FastAPI with WebSockets to simulate real-time trading conditions. The platform is built on Next.js for the front end and Firebase for secure authentication—ensuring scalability, low friction, and an experience designed to foster thoughtful, disciplined investors.
