Inspiration
Robotics industry shows a huge uplift in recent with introduction of Pepper and many other robots targeting different industries. But problem is these devices are way too expensive for normal consumer to experience it's uses and too large in size. Hence our team wanted to develop a solution targeting the average consumers which provides a simple communication medium and which is also wearable device with an attractively low cost price.
What it does
To tell the emotions (of the party who is not present) to somebody via the robot's eye and movement Remote controlling of the robot using the live stream video Easy to set up and you can carry it anywhere anytime Text to speech conversion for communication
How I built it
Raspberry pi and Aruidino for cotrolling sensors and motors and connecting to the network Using RGB Camera for streaming live video Servo motors to control the head rotation of the robot Emotion expression using LED 8x8 matrix Speaker module for greeting Web control panel using HTML, CSS and Javascript
Challenges I ran into
Maintaining the small size Keeping the cuteness of robot Interaction between hardware and software Building up the network connection using WiFi
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Making a cute robot who can greet Keeping the robot low cost for average consumer Stationing the robot on shoulder keeping hands free for the wearer
What I learned
Team management Knowledge sharing between members Technical skils using CAD Designing and 3D printing
What's next for QuoRobo
Using Intel Real Sense for remote controlling robot movements Using oculus rift to give Virtual Reality experience for the user
