Inspiration
Inspired by the rush of University of Toronto engineering students racing to their 9 a.m. classes. Players experience the urgency of navigating campus obstacles to avoid being late.
What it does
In the game, the player would control a character within a 2d world. The game is won when the character reaches the end without being late by avoiding obstacles. Original design include some gadgets and rewards on the road to the end, which can accelerate your process to the end. Be aware of the trap on the road. Trying to get a point before you have fully prepared would result in unavoidable death.
How we built it
We built the game from unity engine along with script written in C#. Multiple drawings and animations are found online for the prototype only.
Challenges we ran into
The team lacks experience in coding a game from scratch. Most of the functions, algorithms, and basic coding style are learned on the site.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that the game realized some primitive moving and attacking. We include multiple animations and a variety of landform. The team cooperate and learn different sections of game building. All of us gained experience in coding and team working.
What we learned
What's next for Race to Class
• Expand the game map to include more campus locations • Implement a competitive mode where two players race to reach the end first. • Simulate different times of day (e.g., morning, evening) and weather conditions (e.g., rain, snow) to increase challenge.
