Rainbow Light

Inspiration

"What inspired me to create this project was the time I used this very light for a purple glowing effect for a dementor during Halloween, hence the name of the directory Halloween 2022. I dug up the hardware and software and created a cool array of colors." -Neal

What it does

It activates a 32 Hex Panel IP Pearl DMX light with multiple different colors.

How it was Built

First was the acquirement and connecting all the hardware necessary for the hardware portion of sending a signal from a MacBook Air to the DMX light to activate a certain color chosen. Then was the software part of creating a file that creates the correct signal for a certain color and implementing an Olad daemon for the software portion communicating with the DMX light.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was implementing the Olad daemon due to the software not being updated and being 5 years behind Apples' software. Some additional challenges was creating a file similar to the Halloween one and calibrating the DMX light to the right settings.

Accomplishments

Some accomplishments were the creation of a light that shines colorful and random lights and the fun time I had thanks to the WintR Hackathon of 2023 thanks to P.O.P. (People of Programming) and the Sunnyvale Public Library.
