RealEstateX: Revolutionizing Real Estate Investment For Retail Real estate Investors

Inspiration I’ve always been interested in commercial real estate but found the process slow and complicated. This inspired me to create RealEstateX, a platform to make real estate investment quicker and more accessible.

What it does RealEstateX is a blockchain-based marketplace that democratizes real estate investment through fractional ownership. By tokenizing properties, we enable people to co-own real estate, enhancing market liquidity.

In my marketplace component of the project, properties listed for sale are already tokenized into multiple shares, with real-time property values provided by Zillow. This ensures that token prices fluctuate based on current market conditions, offering a dynamic investment experience.

The "My Investment" section lets users see how many tokens they own, buy more tokens if available, or sell them for cash. It works like a stock exchange, where the value of shares changes with the property market.

The "List My Property" section is a game-changer for developers and homeowners. Developers can quickly liquidate unsold properties, while homeowners can sell up to 49% equity in their homes. This feature opens up real estate investment to retail investors who may not have the capital to buy entire properties, making it a wonderful way to inject liquidity into the real estate sector.

How I built it I built RealEstateX using Solidity for smart contracts and tools like Remix, Infura, and Pinata. Zillow provides real-time property values. My front end uses React.js and Web3.js, and we use Ethereum as our blockchain platform with Metamask for wallet integration.

Challenges I ran into The journey was not without its hurdles. I faced issues with minting tokens and encountered several challenges with smart contract development. These obstacles, however, were valuable learning experiences that strengthened my knowledge of blockchain.

Accomplishments that I am proud of I am proud of how much I learned about blockchain technology. This project has been a great learning experience.

What's next for RealEstateX I plan to keep developing RealEstateX, using what we’ve learned from our blockchain fellowship. My goal is to make the platform even better and more accessible for everyone.
