Inspiration

Inspired by recent advancemenets in Artificial Intelligence such as ChatGPT, as well as learning how to cook efficiently

What it does

The user can take a picture of a fridge with food ingredients, or manually enter the ingredients they have, and the application will recommend some recipes based on those ingredients. User can favorite or dislike the recipe, and complete the cooking process to get experience point in the app.

How we built it

Most of our code is React Native, NodeJS, and TypeScript, as well as a CockroachDB database setup. We used Github to work on the same project on different devices, merging files, pushing updates, and troubleshooing any errors

Challenges we ran into

use of CockroachDB was tough, because we were having issues setting it up in React Native specifically, struggling to find relevant documentation based on our unique data

Accomplishments that we're proud of

AI usage in our app, gamified experience of leveling up and gaining experience, overall friendly learning experience

What we learned

We learned a lot about teamwork when it comes to coding, React Native fundamentals, and proper time management

Fix any bugs associated with the AI camera, more specific filters for health benefits

I worked on the “Explore new recipes” page. The result was not as I expected, because I was not familiar with react native. In the process of project, I had to learn meaning of functions, libraries and etc. This was my first submission for hackathon as a team, so I am proud of myself that we completed the project as a team.

I spent most time trying to figure out how to implement ai with our project. Not having any familarity in react-native was a biggest challenge for me.

I mostly worked on AI where we use it to detect the items on the images and spent a lot of time integrating it with our project. I did not have experience in react Native which was something new for me. I can say that I did a lot of contributions to the design side as well.
