Inspiration
So many people struggle with finding jobs, whether it is through searching hundreds of job aggregation websites, or through door to door hiring. This struggle is amplified insurmountably for refugees. There are so many refugees with good educations and backgrounds, but it is nearly impossible for them to find jobs. This is why we created RefuJob
What it does
RefuJob helps refugees find jobs through a simple, easy to use AI bot Application.
How we built it
We built it on the Facebook Messaging interface. Our tech stack included Watson cognitive services, Node.js, and javascript.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges when integrating api's for linkedin, and glassdoor, and because of having not as much coding knowledge as the other professionals. Due to the time constraint, we were unable to accomplish everything we wanted to, but the main idea of our bot is functional.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we created a solution to a real world problem which affects millions of refugees around the world. We overcame the difference in age between us and our competitors, and made a fully functional prototype of our bot.
What we learned
We learned how to use facebook as an interface for a chatbot
What's next for RefuJob
We are planning a go to market strategy in which we monetize each of the candidates who are applying to jobs, and charge a small fee to the company hiring them when they get selected for a job. We also want to take 12 percent of their signing bonus if they receive one when getting the job.
