Inspiration
Organizations around the world struggle to keep up with complex regulatory requirements. Industries such as shipping, transportation, energy, and finance must constantly interpret lengthy regulations and ensure operational compliance.
This process is slow, expensive, and error-prone.
We were inspired to build RegulationOS, an AI system that transforms regulations into actionable intelligence and automated compliance workflows.
What it does
RegulationOS is an agentic AI platform that reads regulatory documents, analyzes operational data, detects compliance risks, and generates action plans.
Users upload regulatory documents and operational data such as cargo manifests. The system extracts obligations, compares them against operations, identifies risks, and generates a compliance report.
The platform also provides a conversational interface that allows operators to ask questions such as:
“Are these shipments compliant?”
How we built it
The platform uses a multi-agent architecture powered by Amazon Nova foundation models.
Key components include:
Regulation Agent for extracting obligations from regulatory documents
Cargo Agent for analyzing operational shipping data
Risk Agent for detecting compliance issues
Workflow Agent for generating action plans and automation suggestions
Amazon Nova reasoning models power regulatory interpretation, while Nova multimodal embeddings enable document understanding and retrieval.
Challenges we ran into
Regulatory language is complex and highly contextual.
Mapping abstract legal requirements to real operational data required designing a multi-agent architecture that could break down the reasoning process into specialized tasks.
We also focused on building a system that could demonstrate real-world compliance analysis in a short hackathon timeframe.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a working prototype that can:
interpret regulatory documents
analyze operational shipping data
detect compliance risks
generate actionable compliance plans
All within seconds.
This demonstrates how agentic AI systems can significantly reduce the cost and complexity of regulatory compliance.
What we learned
This project reinforced that large language models combined with agent orchestration can transform industries that rely heavily on document analysis and compliance workflows.
Regulations contain structured knowledge, and AI systems can convert that knowledge into operational intelligence.
What's next for RegulationOS
Our next step is to expand RegulationOS into a full regulatory intelligence platform for global industries including logistics, energy, and workplace compliance.
Future capabilities include:
continuous compliance monitoring
automated regulatory updates
enterprise workflow automation
cross-industry compliance intelligence.
