What it does
ListAI helps people create high-quality resale listings instantly by analyzing a product photo and generating a marketplace-ready listing.
Users simply upload an image of an item they want to sell. The system then:
- analyzes the image
- identifies the product and condition
- generates a compelling title and description
- estimates a competitive resale price
- finds comparable listings
- prepares the listing for marketplaces like Facebook Marketplace or eBay
The result is a complete, optimized listing draft in seconds.
This removes one of the biggest friction points in the resale process: writing good listings and pricing items correctly.
The Problem
Millions of items sit unsold or underpriced in resale marketplaces because creating a good listing is harder than it should be.
Sellers often struggle with:
- writing clear titles and descriptions
- pricing items competitively
- identifying the right category
- finding comparable listings
- responding to buyer negotiations
Poor listings lead to:
- lower prices
- longer selling times
- fewer buyers
We wanted to make selling something as easy as taking a photo.
The Solution
ListAI turns a single product photo into a full marketplace listing using AI.
Workflow
- Upload a photo of the item
- AI analyzes the product
- The system generates:
- listing title

- category
- condition
- suggested price
- Comparable listings are shown for reference
- The seller can export or publish the listing
We also simulate buyer interactions so sellers can see how negotiations might play out.
This dramatically reduces the effort required to sell items online.
How We Built It
The app is a modern AI-powered web experience built with:

The interface is designed to feel like the AI is actively analyzing and constructing a listing in real time.
Challenges We Ran Into
One of the biggest challenges was designing a workflow that felt intelligent and trustworthy, rather than just generating text.
We solved this by:
- showing staged AI processing states
- surfacing comparable listings for transparency
- structuring outputs like real marketplace listings
Another challenge was balancing performance and visual polish with the animated WebGL landing page.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
- Built a full end-to-end AI listing workflow
- Designed a cinematic landing experience with animated background
- Created a realistic listing generation interface
- Integrated pricing insights and comparable listings
Most importantly, we turned what is normally a 10–15 minute task into a 5-second workflow.
What We Learned
This project reinforced that AI is most powerful when paired with strong UX.
Rather than simply generating text, the system needed to guide the user through a clear and trustworthy workflow.
We also learned how important perceived intelligence is — staged generation steps dramatically improve the user experience.
What's Next for ListAI
Future improvements include:
- direct publishing to marketplaces
- smarter price prediction models
- automatic product identification from photos
- negotiation assistant for responding to buyers
- batch listing generation for power sellers
Our long-term goal is to make reselling as effortless as taking a picture.
