Inspiration

I am a vary musically inclined person so I can be found listening to music often. When it comes to the ringtones of phones the default ringtones put me to sleep. When we received the chance to make our own apps in the Mobile App development class at Washington I thought "Why no make a way to do it myself?"

What it does

You can make a ringtone out of anything that you record using this app

How I built it

I used mit app inventor 2 with the help of some extensions and of course the companion app

Challenges I ran into

Trying to convert the sound file into an mp3 when in fact we didn't have to because we had found a workaround for the problem. After a while of using the AI companion app the connect feature stopped connecting properly and we had to use the build function which took longer to load up but allowed to download the app onto a mobile device.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We found a workaround for needing to convert the 3gp sound file into an mp3 without converting

What I learned

There are plenty of things that can go wrong that are out of your control when trying to do something that may, at first seem simple when creating an app, that are harder than they seem.

What's next for Ringtone Maker

I want to bring in the option to name the ringtones you save because they are currently only large letter and number patterns that tell you where it was saved.
