We all know the feeling. It’s early in the morning, you’re carrying a cup of coffee in hand, and you’re freezing while you wait at the bus stop. When the bus finally arrives, it's comforting warmth beckons you closer and invites you to sit down and relax. You’ll only rest your drooping eyelids for just a moment, you tell yourself. Half an hour later, you awake refreshed and ready to take on the day, only to find yourself stranded in the desolate outskirts of Montreal. RingTrans was specifically created to solve the problems of these sleepy riders of public transit.
Our app RingTrans works to notify users when they are within a certain distance from their destination. Users are prompted to search for their destination in an easy-to-use location bar and to set the distance before they are notified. Once their destination is set, the app will use the phone’s GPS as well as Google Map’s API to “ring” the user using a notification as well as an alarm once they are approaching the destination. By doing so, users are given just enough time to pull the stop request and get off at the (correct!) destination. RingTrans provides a truly worry-free transit experience. Sleep on, slumberheads.
